" My parents, Ken & Linda moved from their home of 55 years in Owen Sound to Goderich Place last July. Locating to Goderich made it easier for our family to assist dad with mom and Goderich Place residency eliminated the tasks and responsibilities of living in the family home. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing mom and dad on a regular basis. So many fond memories were made. Goderich Place was the ideal solution for my parents. Dad loved his 2 bedroom apartment and the spaciousness. Unfortunately, my dad and mom’s health deteriorated and both have since passed.
I cannot express in words the exceptional care provided to both my parents. Mom’s additional needs were taxing on dad. The staff assisted when needed with mom, always in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner. My dad particularly enjoyed his conversations with the staff; housekeeping, kitchen, PSWs, nurses and management. Mom and dad looked forward to the music and special events. The volunteer staff always delivered with smiles, kindness and energy.
The loss of my mom and his own health issues weighed heavy on my dad. The staff boosted his spirits with visits and conversations. He treasured the friendship developed with Tyler and Melanie.
On a personal note, when I had concerns or questions regarding either of my parents I would look for nurse Clare. She was my resource, confidant and compassionate ear. She was amazing, empathetic and extremely helpful.
I can only imagine how physically and emotionally draining the past few years have been on the Health Care workers and support staff of Retirement Facilities. Please let them know from the entire Muxlow families we appreciate them, and what they do every day for the residents of Goderich Place.
